nails of the week: galaxy

I love the Galaxy Nails look! I have tried it several time before with varying results. This is by far the most accurate portrayal of space I have been able to create...on my nails. The key to success is twofold. One- use bright primary colors.
Two- use small and large glitter.

First paint your nails solid black. Then use a make-up sponge to dab on the colors, one at a time. It doesn't matter how they layer or how much you use- just experiment with what you think looks best. Finally, use the glitter as a top coat.

The primary colors (pink instead of red works just fine) mix and meld to create a mood ring effect. They magically combine, creating green and orange and even some purple.

This is the perfect glitter polish for the task. It is made by Pure Ice and only $1.97! The small flecks and big pieces of glitter give depth to the galaxy, creating the illusion of space travel...right on your finger tips.

day at the park

Finally, we had a day of sunshine and 60 degree weather. We spent the morning out and about, running errands and entertaining diners with Alice's bottomless pit of a stomach. Baby girl loves food as much as her momma. On our way home, we stopped at the park to swing and slide.

It is a gloomy and rainy day. So, it's a good thing we have a tiny cheerleader running around. Little Alice is growing like a weed and this sweet uniform (Thanks Jordan!!!) won't fit her much longer. I figured, why not show some good old Gator spirit on a lazy Saturday.

The Gators play Arkansas today. Maybe little Ali will bring them some luck!

I can't resist these little piggy tails! They are totally worth the squirming, hog-tying chaos it takes to put them in place.

get well

Whew. 2013 has been a doozy for our little family. I can honestly say I have been sick more days than well. My sweet little girl is also a petri dish of bacteria and viruses. She manages to only get sick for two days at a time. Byron catches it and is out maybe five days. I get sick and it stays around for two weeks or more. No fair. Well, I have had enough. I am on a quest for strengthened immunity. I am using proper hand washing techniques (wash for a full 15 seconds) and I am taking a health tonic every morning. I first heard about this from Iffy Inklings. Apparently my cosister, Jordan, takes it too (Grandmama told me so). I mix two tablespoons of raw honey, two tablespoons of raw apple cider vinegar, two teaspoons of vitamin C powder and 2/3 cup of water. This makes enough for two servings. Shake it all in a mason jar and drink it up. The vinegar is quite strong but the honey mellows the taste. I sure hope to see the benefits soon.

I hope to be back to blogging on a regular basis. Being sick means sleep takes precedence over all hobbies. I miss posting and writing and connecting with you all. (Thank you, Elise, for checking on me!) Somehow, in my absence my pageviews passed 10,000. I appreciate your time and attention and I will do better!
